Celebration! A History of the Visual Arts in Boulder (HOVAB) is an unprecedented, community-wide cultural event that will revisit and celebrate the City of Boulder’s dynamic and diverse visual arts past in 18 exhibition venues, featuring over 300 artists, spanning 121 years of history, with 50 opening receptions, film screenings, presentations and panel discussions. HOVAB will produce a museum quality catalogue to document and preserve Boulder’s visual arts heritage in perpetuity.
Venues include: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art; Boulder Public Library; Canyon Gallery at the Boulder Public Library; Dairy Arts Center; First Congregational Church Gallery; First United Methodist Sanctuary Gallery; Highland City Club; Macky Auditorium; Mercury Framing; Mr. Pool Gallery; Naropa University; NCAR; Rembrandt Yard; Pine Street Church; Boulder Creative Collective; and Longmont’s Firehouse Art Center. Pioneers: Women Artists in Boulder, 1898-1950, will be on display simultaneously at the CU Art Museum.
HOVAB is dedicated to Karen Ripley Dugan (1939 – 2015), a passionate voice for the arts in Boulder.
